Recently I have explored some new issues connected with exposing handwoven canvases. Creating a space between the wall and the artwork generates a 3-dimensional character of the composition and brings out main features of the canvas, for example its lightness.

Sejpak pochodzi od słowa ‘sejpić’, ‘sejpać’, co oznacza strzępić się. To technika tkacka wykonywana na czterech nicielnicach przy użyciu czółenka i kleszczki. Jej Mistrzynią jest Sabina Knoch ze Szczepek. W Interweave Studio wykonuję tkaninę w tej technice na krośnie Louet przy użyciu 12 nicielnic. Na zdjęciach zajawka z początkowego etapu pracy. // Sejpak comes from the word ‘sejpić', 'sejpać' which means ‘to shred’. Textiles are constructed on four shafts loom with a shuttle and a tool called ‘kleszczka’. The Master of sejpak in Poland is Sabina Knoch from Szczepki. In Interweave Studio I implement this folk technique on a 12 shaft loom. Below, a sneek peak from the first stage of constructing the textile.

Piękne perebory w pracowni Ireny Ignaciuk. Majowa wizyta w Lewkowie Starym. Spokojny i kreatywny czas spędzony na rozmowach i nauce czytania wzorów. Jak się okazuje, każdy ma na to swój autorski sposób! W pereborach, jak i w samym tkaniu, jest dużo logiki. Czytelne uwagi Ireny otworzyły mnie na zrozumienie budowy tkanin. Działania powadzone są w ramach stypendium Ministra Kultury i Dziedzictwa Narodowego w dziedzinie sztuk wizualnych na 2023 rok.  // Beautiful handwoven textiles created with 'perebory' technique. Studio visit in Irena Ignaciuk place in Lewkowo Stare. Peaceful and creative time in the village. We discussed issues connected with colour combinations as well as construction of multishaft textiles. It appeares that each one of us have different recipes and ways how to lead this complex process! Steps of the project are realized within a scholarship of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland in the field of visual arts.

Oryginał tkaniny wykonany przez Mistrzynię Sabinę Knoch ze Szczepek.   // Sejpak - one of the main patterns called "brona". My authorial interpretation of this motif in a form of a woven "sack" - Canvas 3D. The original textile was woven by hand by the Master Sabina Knoch from Szczepki, northeastern Poland.
